About Us

A very warm welcome to Your Pure Potential!

I truly hope that you find this site of help to you along your personal journey.

My intent is to share what I have learned through the course of my own life, its ups and downs, the copious books read, courses undertaken, retreats attended, practices, coaching and the gems gleaned from world renowned experts such as among others Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Sydney Banks, Tony Robbins and other qualified coaches.

The learnings that I will share are by no means limited to these few but will incorporate that which has helped me personally and that I know through experience as a Teacher, Sociologist and Coach has helped others.

Why ‘Your Pure Potential’?

The first time I meditated and went on a retreat was around 17 years ago.  There was definitely a need for something or an identification that there was something missing.

But, it was a further 10 or so years after that that I experienced great emotional pain and suffering. I felt extremely unhappy and empty. There was a lack of fulfilment and a sense of meaninglessness.

Quite honestly, I was exhausted both mentally and physically – I had “hit the wall”. I felt like I had been like a mouse on a wheel. I found myself thinking in the depths of despair that “I can’t do this anymore”. I had tried to make my life better and I did, but then I would make the same mistakes or decisions that put me right back at what I perceived as the ‘bottom”. I wasn’t learning, I wasn’t creating the relationships, the prosperity, the life that I apparently wanted.

Weren’t we supposed to learn from our mistakes? I considered myself intelligent, yet I couldn’t make a sustained change. So, there began my journey of discovery but on a different level.

I had for many years been interested in personal development etc and had pursued many avenues, but this time it was different. It became less about the doing, the pushing and the fixing (all that was wrong with me and my life) and more about the being and reconnecting with myself to create permanent change.

During this time I was re-introduced to meditation and the associated teachings and experiences and also coaching with its associated practises and teachings.

So, I have developed this site to share what helped me and continues to help me and what I have learned and practised along the way in the hope that it will help others.

What I will share I believe is invaluable and precious and will help you (if you allow it) to live differently, to have what you’ve always wanted, to live with peace and to move through life with ease, to live with an aliveness never experienced before, to truly know yourself and others, to know the nature of life and the joy to be had, to experience clarity and real freedom – a place of no fear. Just imagine!

What can you expect?

Meditation and coaching is something to be excited about.  Can they go hand in hand?

I believe they can.  We are extremely powerful when we access our true selves beyond our minds (this is our Being) which we can do through meditation and mindfulness and we are powerful when we can manage or master our minds (the Human ego).  It just depends where we are at in accessing these.  In the beginning, most people want to work with their mind/ego at the level of form – the human side of our existence.

My position is that we need to do what resonates with us at any given time.  You may need this, you may need that, alot of this, more of that or a little bit of both.

I am an advocate of meditating and being mindful as much as you can for this is where absolute peace and wholeness resides (where there is nothing to fix) and from which our unlimited potential will flow when we are connected to this.

However, I also see a place for coaching and other self-help/personal development practices depending on where you are at.  I have definitely been through a few myself.

So, I meet people where they are at.  If one isn’t ready for coaching then there will be resistance and a lack of commitment and ultimately they will not see the results they want.  Likewise, if one isn’t ready to delve deeper into themselves through meditation or spirituality then pushing is futile.

We will explore or delve into whatever area we need at the time and when we are ready.  To quote “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear”.

So, where does that leave us?

I will give you:

  • coaching/personal development, meditation and related health and wellbeing topic articles
  • coaching/personal development, meditation tips, strategies and advice
  • impartial reviews and/or links to products and services to assist you in your decision making

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, please feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

I would also appreciate your feedback and/or suggestions on any related areas you would like me to write or provide advice about.

For now, go forth with ease and just be!

Martine

Hi Martine! Thank you for sharing your story. I can relate to you in many ways. There was a time in my life when I hit rock bottom and wondered when life would be better. I started reading lots of spirituality books and began to realize that I have the power to change anything I need to change. I began to live a life of gratitude and began to meditate as well. Today, I continue to simply make a choice to be happy and live my life to the fullest. I am excited to have found your site that you have created and I’m looking forward to following it in the future.

I like the topic you are talking about. Personally, I have never done meditation in my life. However, I do find it really interesting and I might give it a try thanks to you! I think that maybe that is what I need in my life. Also, I have a question: How am I supposed to start? I want to do so ASAP.

    Thanks a lot.
