Give yourself permission to stop!
We live in a world where ‘doing’ is encouraged and even applauded both in the literal and figurative sense. To not be doing is somehow frowned upon and unacceptable. Through societal and familial constructs we then find this unacceptable to ourselves. Ever felt the feeling of not having something planned for the weekend and the fear of being asked what you have planned and if you are asked, the terrible and shameful feeling that ensues of somehow not being good enough and the associated negative thoughts about yourself. That’s just one example. I’m here to say that it’s ok to not be doing and sometimes it’s absolutely necessary and sometimes…

When things are going well – don’t stop meditating!
It has been some time since I have written an article. I guess I can put it down to being side-tracked by other activities (mainly other work). But, I was prompted to write “When things are going well – don’t stop meditating!” following my own experience of things going well until they weren’t going so well and where I was left based on what I had let slide in terms of maintaining my own wellbeing. The other reason is that the intent of my website and the content that I share about meditation, consciousness and presence etc is really important to me in that I truly believe it can help people. …

Embracing the Unknown So, what is this course all about? What does it mean to embrace the unknown? Firstly, Embracing the Unknown is a Four-Part Course on Letting Go and Welcoming Change It’s more than likely that you’ve heard of The Tibetan Book of the Dead. But what can this famous religious text tell you about living? Even though it is an intrinsic and unavoidable part of life, our culture as a whole doesn’t like to talk about death. For many of us, the concept is not only frightening, but nearly taboo—a grim shadow overhanging everything, silent and dreadful. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, it…

What is Transcendental Meditation? What’s the big secret?
I’ve written What is Transcendental Meditation? What’s the big secret? because I feel that it deserves some attention in challenging the secretness or specialness of Transcendental Meditation (TM). The views expressed herein are mine and mine alone. Secret Business and Unique to You! Let me begin by briefly stating that Transcendental Meditation (TM) has been around since the 1950s. The TM technique and TM movement was developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India. The Maharishi taught thousands of people and then began training people to become TM teachers through organizations. The term has now been trade marked. There has been controversy around the movement but also for me I have…

Tips on how to love yourself
I was compelled to write today about self love and self care. And more specifically, I wanted to touch on “what is self love or self care?” and to give you some tips on how to love yourself. I will attempt to keep it brief though knowing how I write that could be difficult. Nevertheless, I will exercise self love and self care even in relation to this in allowing myself to fully express myself. When people think of self love or self care they often think of things such as pampering sessions or buying oneself something special. I want to expand your thinking a little here and include some…

Online Retreats in Real Time
My fingers have been walking I have been combing the internet looking for and researching online retreats. In particular, I was searching specifically for online retreats for women and men, couples retreats and retreats for everyday life. And even more specifically I was looking for the more traditional meditation/spiritual based online retreats that are focused on deepening concentration, insight, raising our awareness and consciousness and getting in touch with our true self. Really, the conclusion is that many retreats, particularly those that are online are not specifically designed for any of these cohorts, they are suitable for everyone and that’s a great thing. It’s not divisive and the principles apply whether…
